M.Sc., Ph.D.
UMass Boston was the first to offer a Ph.D. program with a green chemistry track. They now also offer a stand-alone Master's degree with waived tuition and a teaching stipend. The historic area is a modern science and green chemistry hub, with numerous biotech startups in Boston, the Warner Babcock Center for Green Chemistry in Wilmington, and the Green Chemistry and Commerce Council in Lowell.
STUDENTS SAY...
The UMB Green Chemistry Center is primarily driven by a single dedicated professor. There are some unique resources available to students; however, they can sometimes be hard to find. If you are willing to put the work in, great opportunities can present themselves.
UMB's Green Chemistry program is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with new equipment, and the program has great opportunities for partnerships and collaborations in a city full of medical and technological excellence. Those who have been successful in this program have had to be self-motivated and advocate for themselves, as faculty members are not always in sync and support is sometimes lacking.
